Thanks so much for your article Katrina! The environmental impact that bottled water has on our environment, oceans and sea life are not worth the cost. By installing a water filter on your faucet is by far the best way to combat this impact. If everyone replaced bottled water with a water filter, we would save millions of barrels of oil every year and save countless numbers of plastic bottles from ending up in our oceans or landfills. Good luck in the contest!

I am not sure where to post on your blog but in my household we minimize the electricity we burn by keeping the lights and televisions off most of the day as there is no need for them to be on we keep the heaters down to 1/4 since it is baseboard heating and difficult to maintain a constant temperature. I use cloth diapers on my baby and use wash cloths to clean her up instead of baby wipes. We keep to non electric graters and kitchen tools. I make my own cream of whatever soups to minimize the effect of cans being used. I recycle all the containers that i can recycle and use my bicycle to go as many places as possible.

  3. Turn off the sprinkler system and hand water with a hose. I can’t tell you how many people are watering the street with automatic sprinklers. Hand watering saves a lot of ‘run off’

  5. I have been filtering my water for years.

Plastic doesn’t just have an impact on the
environment, oceans and lakes but on our
    bodies.

Thanks for helping educate the public on
the hazards of plastic and the benefits of
filtering water with your great blogs
    and articles Katrina.

Multi-Pure is a great product. Kudos!

  7. Hey Kat, I am a sales rep in my offline life for lighting products and even with these products there is new technology for “greener” products. The latest of which is LED lighting; this type of lighting is more efficient than fluorescent and incandescent saving literally millions of dollars on energy consumption.
Oh and as far as water, we have a manual system of filtering.
