NRDC – Defending Our Right To Clean Water

July 21, 2011 by Laura

NRDC -Peter Lehner Last week, the House of Representatives passed one of the worst pieces of legislation I've ever seen. The bill, HR 2018, overturns almost 40 years of federal safeguards that protect our water quality. Under the bill, the EPA would no longer be able to properly enforce the Clean Water Act. Your representative voted the wrong way on this bill. Click here to let your representative know you disagree with the vote. "I personally have worked for decades to clean our waters, ...[READ MORE]

Food & Water Watch Demands Equal Public Voice On Fracking

July 8, 2011 by Laura

Speak out and demand an equal public voice on fracking! We all know how democracy works. Every citizen gets an equal voice when it comes to important decisions facing our country. But it seems like the Department of Energy is forgetting the rules — favoring the oil and gas industry's position on fracking and limiting opportunities for public input. This is outrageous. Tell the Department of Energy to stop pushing its biased position on fracking and letting the oil and gas industry run the ...[READ MORE]

Plastic – A Cancer In Our Environment

July 2, 2011 by Laura

Plastic – A Cancer In Our Environment- Florida Keys Wildlife Rescue Silently spreading, leaching toxins, maiming and killing, plastics, the darling of modern society because of their versatility and heretofore low cost, are beginning to show their true colors. Derived from chemically-altered petroleum and often combined with toxic additives, plastics are no longer inexpensive to produce, due to increasing oil prices, nor are they inert products; they release toxins into the environment. People ...[READ MORE]

The Fracking Fuss What it's about—and why you should care by Sheryl Eisenberg Fracking is all over the news these days, but what exactly is it? A.A harmless way to get natural gas out of the ground. B.A fictional euphemism in a TV series for, well, you know what. C.The answer to global warming. D.None of the above. If you answered B, you really know your popular culture. Wasting Energy The Plastic Way

June 13, 2011 by Laura

Wasting Energy The Plastic Way by Dale Y the Green Guy The biggest energy wasting substance on our planet is……wait for it…….plastic! That’s right, plastic. For all the good that comes from plastic substances, there is more bad about it than anything else. The worst part about plastic is that it is made from petroleum. Both gas, oil and other fossil fuels are also made from petroleum, so every time a new piece of plastic is made, we are cutting into our petroleum reserves. On the upside of this ...[READ MORE]

What is the #1 way to help our environment?

June 4, 2011 by Laura

About a month ago, I watched the movie earthlings. Well.. I kinda watched it. After viewing the trailer, I knew It was not going to be an easy film to view. The first minute into the trailer was horrifically upsetting, and I had to gear myself up to watch the film. If you're anything like me, I always thought PETA people were a little off their rocker and major extremests. That is until I watched this documentary. As I said, I couldnt really "watch" it. I had several windows open on my computer, ...[READ MORE]

Welcome to the water filter lady’s blog! Meet Laura…

I have been in the water filter business for 12 years. My goal is to help educate you. Deciding to drink filtered tap water instead of bottled water can have huge benefits for the earth. We can eliminate unnecessary waste going into our landfills and oceans, cut back on the energy it takes to produce and transport the bottles, reduce our exposure to harmful chemicals like BPA, and stop supporting an industry moving to turn water from a common resource into an expensive commodity.
