Are You Breathing In Toxic Chlorine When You Shower?
Recently I was visiting my son in Orlando, and I spent the night at his house. My son lives in an older home that does not have an exhaust fan in the bathroom. While I was using the bathroom, I noticed some mold on the ceiling and commented to him about it. He said a little bleach would kill it. Later on in the evening, I noticed him continually coughing and asked him if he had a cold. The cough that he had was so loud and raspy that I sincerely thought he had bronchitis or a major upper respiratory infection. When he told me that he did not have any illness, I was very concerned and asked him why he thought he was coughing like that. He said, “I always cough like that”. Being that my son does not smoke and never has, I am greatly concerned that something is wrong with him. Upon further discussion, my son revealed to me that he takes long showers and intentionally breathes the vapors while showering to help him clear his lungs!!! OMG, now I am very concerned. Knowing what I know about breathing in Toxic chlorine, I went online and showed him some articles relating to breathing in chlorine fumes while showering. I am now ordering a shower filter for him to install on his shower head. I am extremely concerned that he may have damaged his lungs and recommend he stop taking long showers immediately.
