A Message From Multipure Regarding Chromium 6

October 7, 2016 by Laura
chromium-6Recently in the news we have heard a lot about Chromium in drinking water and we want to be sure and discuss with you how this can be addressed.
Hexavalent chromium refers to chemical compounds that contain the element chromium in the +6 oxidation state. Virtually all chromium ore is processed via hexavalent chromium, specifically the salt sodium dichromate.

In recognizing the negative health effects of drinking water tainted with trace levels of Chromium VI, (also known as  Hexavalent Chromium), Multipure is committed to providing solutions for its customers.

  • Multipure’s AquaRO Reverse Osmosis system is NSF-certified under Standard 58 for the reduction of Chromium VI.
  • Additionally, Multipure has performed independent testing on the CB6 filter cartridge for the reduction of Chromium VI, and the filter was able to meet Standard 53 performance for reduction of Chromium VI for a capacity of 600 gallons. However, because the published capacity of the CB6 filter is 750 gallons, we are unable to add an NSF-certified claim at that rated capacity.
  • Multipure is in the process of full NSF certification for the Aqualuxe Drinking Water System for the reduction of Chromium VI, which will meet Standard 53 performance for its certified capacity of 500 gallons. We look forward to adding this claim to the Aqualuxe in the near future.
By using Mutipure’s RO system, you can be assured by NSF it reduces Chromium VI.
So, this is important to know.  When people ask can Multipure reduce Chromium, the answer is simple… yes, but you need the RO system to reduce it.  Here is the actual test results from NSF that show 2 different Chromiums reduced by RO under Standard 58….both Hexavalent and Trivalent @ 91.3% and 94.1% reduction respectively.
Be sure to scroll down to Standard 58 to look at what the Multipure Reverse Osmosis system has been tested for.

Welcome to the water filter lady’s blog! Meet Laura…

I have been in the water filter business since 2006. My goal is to help educate you. Deciding to drink filtered tap water instead of bottled water can have huge benefits for the earth. We can eliminate unnecessary waste going into our landfills and oceans, cut back on the energy it takes to produce and transport the bottles, reduce our exposure to harmful chemicals like BPA, and stop supporting an industry moving to turn water from a common resource into an expensive commodity. If you have any questions, please email me at [email protected]
