Plastic Water Bottles Causing Flood of Harm to Our Environment

July 30, 2013 by Laura

Plastic Water Bottles Causing Flood of Harm to Our Environment Author: Norm SchrieverAuthor, humorist, cultural mad scientist, and enemy of the comfort zone. http://www.huffingtonpost.com/ I remember the first time I saw a bottle of water for sale, thinking it was the most ridiculous thing I'd ever encountered. Who the heck would actually PAY to drink water when they could get it for free at home? That's just crazy! I drank out of the faucet every single day, or the garden hose in a pinch, and ...[READ MORE]

San Francisco on Track to Become Zero Waste City

February 14, 2013 by Laura

San Francisco on Track to Become Zero Waste City Each year, Americans throw away about 250 million tons of garbage. That's roughly four pounds per person per day. You can find all manner of trash in a landfill, old bent music stands, plastic bags, and a lot of items that could have been recycled, like bottles and cardboard. Beyond the obvious blight they cause, landfills create environmental damage and emit harmful greenhouse gases. They are monuments to waste. Those concerns have prompted San ...[READ MORE]

Wasting Energy The Plastic Way

June 13, 2011 by Laura

Wasting Energy The Plastic Way by Dale Y the Green Guy The biggest energy wasting substance on our planet is……wait for it…….plastic! That’s right, plastic. For all the good that comes from plastic substances, there is more bad about it than anything else. The worst part about plastic is that it is made from petroleum. Both gas, oil and other fossil fuels are also made from petroleum, so every time a new piece of plastic is made, we are cutting into our petroleum reserves. On the upside of this ...[READ MORE]

Welcome to the water filter lady’s blog! Meet Laura…

I have been in the water filter business since 2006. My goal is to help educate you. Deciding to drink filtered tap water instead of bottled water can have huge benefits for the earth. We can eliminate unnecessary waste going into our landfills and oceans, cut back on the energy it takes to produce and transport the bottles, reduce our exposure to harmful chemicals like BPA, and stop supporting an industry moving to turn water from a common resource into an expensive commodity.
