EWG's New Online Water Filter Buying Guide

March 1, 2013 by Laura

EWG's New Online Water Filter Buying Guide Washington, D.C. – The Environmental Working Group has released its new online water filter buying guide with more options and new tips for consumers who want cleaner drinking water for themselves and their families. “Having clean and safe drinking water isn’t a privilege, it’s a right,” said Paul Pestano, an EWG research analyst and a lead researcher on the new filter guide. “However, in the real world much of America’s drinking water contains ...[READ MORE]

The Science Of Multipure’s Solid Carbon Block Filters

March 20, 2012 by Laura

Drinking water pollution comes from many sources. Surface water can become contaminated with agricultural runoff, community landfills, and hazardous waste from manufacturing byproducts. Groundwater can become contaminated from gasoline and MTBE leaks from underground storage tanks, or from the injection of hazardous waste into deep wells. Significant growth of the drinking water treatment industry can be attributed to the consumer demand for products that can 1) protect them from potentially ...[READ MORE]

The Cost of Bottled Water – Is it worth it?

June 1, 2011 by Laura

Over half of Americans drink bottled water, spending 240-10,000 times more per gallon for bottled water than they do for tap water, a trend largely fueled by the belief that bottled water is safer and healthier than tap water. Is the cost worth it? Controversial reports from the World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF) in Gland, Switzerland, and the Natural Resources Defense Council (NRDC) in Washington, DC, say no. The 2001 WWF report Bottled Water: Understanding a Social Phenomenon, an overview of the ...[READ MORE]

Dr. Mercola and Houston Tomasz of Aquasana Deceiving Customers! part 2

January 13, 2011 by Laura

In a previous post, I discussed Dr. Mercola and his deceptive advertising of his water filter (the "pure and clear" water filter made by Aquasana aka "sun water systems"). In that post Dr. Mercola discusses the importance of NSF certification and at the 8 minute mark in the video, the words "NSF CERTIFIED" pop up on the video screen, insinuating that their water filters have been certified by NSF. So, today I clicked on the video, and I got the error message "this video has been removed". I was ...[READ MORE]

March 1, 2010 by Laura

Why I Recommend The Multipure Water Filter Over All Other Filters Some of my readers may say that this is a biased opinion since I am a distributor for the Multipure company and that I am only trying to sell water filters. Well...to tell you the truth, I am a distributor for several other water filter companies as well as Multipure. I have been in the water filter business now going on 7 years. I temporarily worked for Rain Soft, but I didn't stay with them because in my opinion their products ...[READ MORE]

Welcome to the water filter lady’s blog! Meet Laura…

I have been in the water filter business since 2006. My goal is to help educate you. Deciding to drink filtered tap water instead of bottled water can have huge benefits for the earth. We can eliminate unnecessary waste going into our landfills and oceans, cut back on the energy it takes to produce and transport the bottles, reduce our exposure to harmful chemicals like BPA, and stop supporting an industry moving to turn water from a common resource into an expensive commodity.
